According to the INEC bulletin 706, which confirmed the presentation on Monday, the ceremony is to take place at the Conference Hall, INEC headquarters, Abuja.
The commission described this as a crucial milestone in the journey to the 2015 general elections.
INEC based its decision on section 20 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), which provides that the Register of Voters for an election shall be published at least thirty (30) days before the elections.
According to the INEC Bulletin: “The 2015 General Elections will take place on February 14 and 28, 2015”.
The commission recalled that the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2015 general elections released to the public on January 24, 2014, shows under item 10 that the commission shall release/publish the official Register of Voters for the election on January 13, 2015.
It shall also publish the list of nominated candidates contesting for the Presidency and National Assembly today, January 13, 2015.
The list of those contesting for the offices of Governor and House of Assembly will be published on January 27, 2015.
Also, in accordance with the same INEC time table, the last day of withdrawal by candidate(s) replacement of withdrawn candidate(s) by political parties for governorship and State House of Assembly is also schedule for today, January, 13, 2015.
The commission said this is sequel to section 35 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which provides for not later than 45 days before the election.
